Difference between 3D Modeling and 3D Rendering


1. 3D modeling and rendering differ depending on the results
3D modeling results in a 3D file that contains a geometric representation of an object. A model has three dimensions, like a real physical body. To create a model, a 3D artist needs exact dimensions and a complete understanding of the form.
The representation is an artistic representation of modeled objects such as still images or animations. More precisely, it is a computer simulation of a plan or sequence. The resulting images or videos are called rendered or rendered.

The reason is that 3D modeling and 3D rendering require different techniques and software, and specialization provides better results for a more predictable workflow.
Sometimes, a client can create a model by itself, that is, export it from a CAD application or use a 3D scanner. Otherwise, 3D artists will use modeling software such as SketchUp, 3ds Max or Maya.
All previous modeling applications have a rendering engine. However, 3D rendering professionals use more specialized programs such as Mental Ray, V-Ray and 3Delight.

4. 3D models can be reused in other 3D representations
As a geometric object, a 3D model is very easy to edit. In addition, you can travel from rendering to rendering, giving completely different images. There are visualizations built entirely on ready-to-use models.
In practice, this means that a model can be used in multiple shots of heroes and lifestyle images with different backgrounds, with different purposes. Slightly optimized, it can be part of an application.
